Buy a bag, you wont regret it
Well I purchased 500ml container of it and I put a 125ml in each of my filters, after around 3-4 months use it comes out looking like this;
I soak it in plain bleach (not the scented stuff) for 48 hours, give it a stir round a few times a day;
Then rinse it with tap water lots of times to get all the dirty bleach away, then the most important part is you need to soak it in soft water (I use plain RO water) with around 20-30ml of Seachem Prime for a couple of days, then I rinse it again a few times with more RO water and let it dry out.
I just rotate 4 bags worth around so I always have so clean purigen waiting to go in the next time. It is a long process but it saves having to buy a new batch and if you do it right it turns out like new. The worst part about it is using so much prime to get rid all the bleach.
