Ebay Refractometers

Im in the process of starting my first ever SW tank, and so therefore need something to measure the SG levels of my water. Having spoke to the lads in my LFS he strongly advised that i didnt get a hydrometer, and said he uses one he bought on ebay (my LFS doesnt stock marine gear)

Any other opinions on them or are refractometers refractometers at the end of the day?

Lovely stuff, thank you Steffie, ill get one of those ordered up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Might well consider a journal, even if its only to help keep track of whats what. Wont be heavily stocked due to its small capacity. Its just a tad over 5g. Does that make it Nano or Pico ?

Only really looking to try my hand at Marine and id be more than happy to just have some corals and some shrimp.

Possibly a small domino damsel or something small if they can thrive in such small capacities.

that will be a pico Dan no good for fish but could be lovely with a shrimp and zoa or ricordia garden along with some xenia for movement

That happens to be fine by me i quite fancy the idea of shrimp. Having done ciclid trops for years the whole idea of corals and shrimp is very appealing.

I can understand that sentiment if your lighing is good you might even get away with a euphyllia

Hi Welcome to TFF .. I have just put the salty stuff in my first tank about 5hrs ago . so i'm new to this .. .. there are some brill people on this site who will help with any questions (seffie bifster and yume but to mention a few)
