Just taken delivery of my new Eheim Sludge Extractor...what a brilliant bit of kit. Just done a quick hoovering of the tank and all it took was 2 mins to pick up all the poo's and bits of food to make it all look clean again. Can thoroughly recommend it.

I have a PGR 1000 Power Gravel Cleaner and its just the job. But, I find it a little underpowered even though its mains driven.
Anyone recommend a similar unit thats got a bit more grunt!?

I paid £46 from zooplus. I was watching one on ebay but it went for around £38 with postage so I thought I'd rather go for new.

Do you just like posting for the sake of it?....yes I think so.

Ummm my eheim external thermo cost me £140. There are filters and filters. Depends what you are after. I just wanted something to clean up every couple of days without taking water out. I'm a bit like that with my housework :) What could be easier, don't need a bucket and syphon and it's easy to clean and the fish don't seem at all bothered by it. Different strokes for different folks and I reckon you get what you pay for. Eheim is a top notch manufacturer and the 2nd hand value of they're products is amazing. Hence why I didn't go for the one on ebay. Bit like the choice between a Lada and a rolls royce.

This thing sounds like a good piece of kit, I carefully siphon the poo and crud from my sand substrate only to find the next day or so a load more has been washed out from the rocks or where ever.

Will it siphon up the poo from efficiently from a sand substrate ?
