Dual sponge filter vs single sponge filter?

I use reticulated (course) sponge and clean it every two weeks . It does show some particulate is removed when cleaning in tank water. It allows a higher flow rate than the regular sponge. It does not tend to get clogged like closed foam sponges do. It is made by Hydor. I also run a HOB in my tanks. Works for me.

One reason that I like the dual sponge filters is that you can stick it on the glass and hide it away without taking up floor space.

Do they actually suggest these almost never need cleaning? This is not possible, all filters clog as detritus collects, and the only way to remove it is by rinsing/cleaning the media in clean water.
No, they should be cleaned almost like any other...it's just that the coarse ppi means that they don't plug up as quickly. The same for their pre-filter sponges that work very well! (I use several)
