Double Headed Arowana Anyone?

although i think it is cruel to a certain extent letting siamese twin humans live,

Dave I suspect if you asked most Siamese twins they would possibly disagree with you.

In the case of a Siamese fish I don't think we can tell from a picture if the animal is suffering or not. However, considering captive fish are sensitive to stress, I would suggest this fish would never have got so big in the first place if it's quality of life was reduced in a substantial way.

So, I don't think we can really comment on this case in a fair and objective manner.

BTW to other poster above I believe any animal that actively tries to preserve it's own life should be considered as an entity that can feel pain, whether they appear to show typical human pain characteristics or not.

To be honest, anyone who would spend that much money on a deformed fish like that is an idiot and is throwing money away when many other people and animals would appreciate the help it could bring...

A siamese fish like that would simply not exist in the wild and for a good reason too! The only reason its alive is because humans are keeping it alive, it would have died off as a fry or been picked off by a predator very quickly.

I dont think its fair to keep these things alive but if it is living easily then fine, let it be but what nonsense about the price, ridiculous!

Not to mention that the photo at the top of the page just looks photoshopped to me lol...

I cant believe it was allowed to reach such an age. It may be a scientific wonder but there is no way of telling whether the fish is hurting (crossed nervous system) or constantly hungry from getting chemical signals from the second brain if the second head doesnt get to eat..

..i dunno. Big can of worms being opened here (and I am only stating my opinion) but a fish like that should have been culled as a fry. Its just not right.
I agree, it's a freakshow exhibit.

are there any mods around here? this thread is almost like a circus. if you guys ask me..... I would say that whoever buy's this fish, is realy a guy that had lost it's head and brain!! and I think that the pic is been photoshoped if not, then that fish is SUFFERING not swimming happily. the mods realy has to do something about this thread.

M.R Otter -- we don't need your help to mod the forum, thank you very much. If you have a problem, use the report button or PM one of us.

That said, since this thread is now in the scientific section, it needs to take a more scientific tone. I.e. claims made need to be backed up, especially when asked to be backed up. If this thread doesn't take on a more scientific tone, it will be moved back to the section it came from, or closed. Thanks.
