Don't Know About You But I'd Like To Hear Some Of The

My aquarium sits close to the stairs of my small apartment. My catfish jumped out of the tank through the 1 inch gap in the top where the filter sits, and flopped all the way down to the bottom of the stairs. He survived the trip but I had to cover up that gap. :fun:

I had an ADF (Freddy) and he went missing. None of my fish could have eaten him. There is only a small hole in the back of the lid for the filter & heater cables which I didn't think he'd fit through. The stand at the back of the tank by the hole is dusty (it's hard to get a duster in there ok?!) and the dust wasn't disturbed - so no obvious signs of escape. I've never found a body either in the tank or in my lounge.

It's a mystery. The hole is now blocked up just in case though!!

Ian had a crab commit suicide once, he found it dead, holding on to one of the lightbulbs. You'd have thought when it touched it and got burnt it'd get off it and maybe escape with an injury... no it just stayed there :/

One day while looking at my angel fish fry I noticed a tiny baby fish swimming around. There was no way it was an angel fry and there were no other fish in the tank that could have given birth. It turned out that it was a boesmani rainbow fry. I guess an egg survived on some plants that I transplanted from my 55G tank to the fry tank.

Another strange thing I have seen is my female betta will build a bubble nest, lay eggs, put them into the nest and tend to them. She is in a tank by herself next to a male betta.

Bendy. Bendy the mosquito fish fry. hes one of my 1 month 1 day old fry and his back is BENDED!!! it doesnt seem to be a sign of illness and to this day he lives and swims happily next to all the other frys in my 10 gallon. hes swims, acts, and eats normally. wut up with thats??? btw i heart the gouami x african cichlid thread. so cute!

i'm afraid bent spine is often a symptom of fish TB which is fatal, it can also just be a natural deformity.

remember fish like livebearers produce so many fish in the wild because they only expect a very small proportion of them to survive, there's a good chances this is the runt of the litter and would have just not survived in the wild because of the natural deformity.

Strangest thing I've seen in 15+ years of fishkeeping was the dissappearance of my silver arrowana...he was over 1 foot long....in a tank with my red tailed catfish who was about the same size (yes tank was rather large!) Tank was very well sealed to prevent arrowana from jumping out...one day he just vanished...no wet spots on floor or body...catfish had no hugely fat belly...so what happened? I liked the catfish better anyway but still!

uh oh, fish are beginning to vanish without a trace. Maybe the aliens are tired of abducting humans?

I had a small shoal of khuli loaches in my 100gal. Most died. Two lived to adulthood. Both died when we moved house. Months later... I spot a khuli loach (giant thing!) in the tank, it must have been hiding in the sand when I moved? It survived moving, then really low temparatures as the tank heated up at my new house.

I used to add the odd Earthworm into my South American Cichlid Tank.........A Firemouth had a Battle for almost an hour over the Juicy worm, with a Convict attached at the other end.... One would pull one way, the other back the other way.
An entertaining 'Tug Of Worm' ensued ........just wish I'd owned a Video Camera back then!

............I also had a small Angel who was so greedy, he battled all the older ones out the way when the Bloodworm was added......unfortunately he ate too much and I believe this was his downfall.

+ My mate had his 6inch Plec snapped by a Blue Crayfish lobster thing, on the night I warned him about them!.......he also lost 2 Silver Sharks the next day.... Luckily he was exchanged back to LFS before the rest were devoured.
