just managed to set a pan on fire that was full of oil and bacon and fat.

saw the flames whoosh up about a millimetre away from my face and my instinct was to blow it out. oh no nearly lost an eyebrow.

lets just say im glad i wear glasses.

the bad thing was though, there is three people upstairs, one an adult.

if someone talks loudly downstairs you can usually hear it.

i properly screamed for help, did anyone come down? No.

lol im glad someone could! i was most gutted about the fact ive just lost four bits of bacon!!

#93###. I grill bacon, reduces the risk of fire and singed eyebrows, and the house doesn't smell afterwards.

we have a huge stove though and on a budget frying it is much cheaper than grilling as it takes about half an hour for the grill to make any difference.

also i love bacon, be it smells or tastes :D

someone said this on facebook, but when you have a pan of fire in your hands, going to the sink to wet a towel to put over said pan of fire isnt the first thing that comes to mind! also i wanted to save said bacon :D

bacon is rubbish if its not fried. i cant believe you didnt get some bread on a fork and quickly toast it while the bacon was being flash cooked.

don't worry m8. i once had a chip pan catch fire so i put it under a running tap!! i was glad i had turned away from it to curse at the person who left it on!!! lol. glad you (and your eyebrows, if not your snack!) are ok!!

L
:/

we dont use pan lids :)all we use is a mesh thing with a handle to stop oil (usually not on fire) getting all over the oven cause its a pain to clean.

Just deprive the fire of it's oxygen. Don't pour water on an oil fire because (my Dad said so, any way) that will spread it. Sorry to hear about your eyebrows, hanny93.

yes i know but when youve never really set anything on fire bedfore you sdont think of standard procedure!!

and my eyebrows are safe i said nearly ;)
