I would like to do a big breeding project this summer, since I will have alot of time. I dont know what I want to breed yet though. I am already breeding guppies and trying to do platys. The one fish that I dont want to breed is convicts. I do want some kind of fish that is easy to breed. Does anyone have any ideas. Anything will help!!!

you could try to breed rams, killifish, gouramis...

depends what kind of setup you have

I have two set ups that arent in use one is 30 us gallon and the other is 25 us gallon. I was also thinking of angelfish.

do a pair of convicts, they are the rabbits of the cichlidworld... they will breed over and over again.. to find a male and female is easy, the female has a very distinctly colored orange or pinkish bellly, or side... and the males usually have a nice hump on their head... buy 1 male and 2-4 females... make sure u have a male female pair, then just return the rest... sometimes u can even figure out if they a pair or not at the store, then u dont need to buy so many :D

if you have the time and patience try bettas my first spawn about 8 weeks old and its been the most rewarding thing ive ever done with my fish

Before you start breeding anything, make sure you have a couple of shops to sell or give the fish to.

Raising an angel spawn to maturity takes a minimum of 200 gallons of tank space. That would be for a smaller spawn, with some serious culling. Check out this site http://www.webrbiz.com/angelfish/amh.html

Well I have bred convicts before, but not very succesfull. I have two convicts they bred once but then stopped because the male bred with another convict that I had but then after she laid her eggs she died :byebye: . So I dont think that breeding convicts would work for me. I was thinking about bettas but the only thing that is holding me back is that you have to seperate all the fry so they dont fight, but I really would love to breed them. Oh yeah I forgot I am really thinking of breeding angelfish in a 30 us gallons how many can I keep in there with a bala shark? If I can keep them in there with a bala.

What about killies? It might be hard to find a pair in the first place, but they are easy to breed and you can easily sell them or the eggs.

mountain minnows are very easy. all you need is a small tank and a pair of minnows, but you have to take the adults out.

Hi bball4life :)

How about raising some Corydoras catfish?

The advantage of raising them is that most independent lfs will be happy to buy them from you. There is always a good demand for these friendly little fish! :D

Yea I was thinking about corys, but arent they kind of hard to breed? If you have bred them can you give me some info or a link to a site that gives info. Thanks

kribensis and convicts are the easiest cichlids to brred as far as I know.
