Dogs On Leads..

I had a husky that had attention deficit "oooh shiny" and would run no matter how well behaved you "thought" he was being.
Husky's sure are difficult to train. I know how you feel haha. Fortunately mine never leaves my side. But he's got a problem with males :/
They are awesome dogs. I had to rehome mine. He just didn't get the attention he really needed or the room he needed to run. As much as I loved that dog, I couldn't stand to see him depressed. I miss him bunches, but he is the king of his castle now :p

my dog is let off the lead, but only in out of the way areas, like the woods, fields, or the 'unpopular' end of the beach, where only fishermen, dog walkers, and fitness freaks tread. id never get him back if i let him off amongst people enjoying the beach. hed be loving the attention, nobody could deny my dog a pat and a stroke.

Of course, letting dogs off lead in designated parks or in the woods is fine (wish I could do it; my greyhound still won't come when he's called :( ); it's on the streets that it's a problem.

That's a lovely place you have to walk your dog, Moochy! He is a cutie, isn't he?!

Dogs should always be kept on a lead, regardless of how wel they behave. It is simply a matter of safety. I am not going to say that all dogs have a small attention span, but most do. I had a husky that had attention deficit "oooh shiny" and would run no matter how well behaved you "thought" he was being. Another thing that annoys me is people that dont clean up after their dogs. I have cats. So I should not be picking up dog crap from my yard! Your dog mad the mess, CLEAN IT UP!

I have cats too DM and I'd hate to go round looking for where they've messed :look:

When we had border collie, Jess was trained to sit at roads until lead was put on or collar was held before stepping out and did that her whole life. However, a friend had two huskys which were equally trained but one got knocked over after it chased a bolting rabbit across the sand dunes and into the path of a lorry, so even the best trained dogs have moments when no training can over come instinct. Now I have young kids, I look at things slightly differently and seem to see too many untrained/over boisterous (not going to say agressive as I don't know for sure) dogs off the lead in public, my 5 year old is always asking why they haven't got muzzles on when strange dogs are running round childrens play areas.

The good thing about my cats is they are indoor and the only place I have to look for their mess (most the time) is the litter box. There is man in my apartment complex though, that has small dogs that he likes to walk behind my building. I went outside to light my grill up and stepped in poo. He doesn't walk around my building anymore. I asked him nicely to clean up after his dogs and he told me just to spray it down with a hose. Nope sorry, wrong answer. So I politely told him that if he finds a poo filled bag on his porch lit on fire, then to think of me :)

One of my cats came home 4 years ago with a new collar and a note addressed to the owner saying please call me. I had a mental picture of somebodies prize border being turned into a litter tray but when I called it turned out to be an old dear who was taking monty in everyday at 8 and letting him out at 4 just checking to see if he had a home. Exchanged xmas and bitthday cards with monty.s gran and her family ever since :) .

That is so cool :)

My cat got outside once. He did not like it. It was cold and wet and now he won't go near an open door.
