Well, I, September 2009, got a beutiful Golden Retriever puppy named Mick... he has lived with me for a year now, and we are best friends
Well the other day, I took Mick to the dog-park, and there was a German Sheperd he saw. He went to say hi, but it turned out the GS was fairly aggresive, and bit him  He was wimpering, and bleeding, it was really intense
So now, were back home, and he's limping... he can get up, but he has to try really hard. I'm worried about him; I stopped the bleeding, and cleaned the wounds with salt, and it isn't very deep. Also, when he got bit, I asked the owner of the GS if her dog had all his shots, and she said yes :) So, i'm not super worried, but I am concerned... he is limping, but apart from that he is fine. The cut is not bleeding , but the wound is fairly big. So, any advice on what I can do?

Most likely be fine , dog's are quick healers ! i used to have a patterdale terrier which hated every dog going and would somtimes go for a bigger dog and come of worse, after a day or two normally back to itself. If you're worried or it looks to get worse take it to the vets.

As long as you are positive that the limping is only bruising and there is no damage to the bones or tendons, I would carry on bathing it gently in saline solution. If it becomes hot or inflamed though, it would indicate infection in which case I'm afraid you will need to go to the vet.

Hope he is OK.

he should be fine just make sure it doesnt become infected. I would of asked the gs owner for half tyhe bill for a trip to a vet

regards scot :)

i think you should take mick to the vets to get it seen to,the other person said their dog had its injections but has it?also there could be germs on the other dogs teeth, you dont know what its been eating, better be safe than sorry, hope every thing turns out are right for mick

Well guys, I took him to the vet, and all is clear :) They cleaned his wounds, and gave him meds. But I have another Q. Mick is just sitting around, looking really depressed, and is not even wanting to go out for walks. Is this just because of the drugs, or should I worrie? Thanks,

Zophie :good:

what type of meds did they give him? pain meds or antibiotics. if pain meds could be making him drowsy, hence his lethargy. he also could be sore and just resting so the bite and heal. give it a few more days and see how he is at that time. the most important thing is that you know he is ok and the bite isnt something to worry about.
all the best
cheers!

They gave him pain meds- they said that they don't want to stich it, because it may not heal. Well, last night, Mick slept with a head cone on him  He was really upset about it :look: But today, he went for his walk, and greated my fiancee with his usual gusto  , so I think he's getting better. He can walk fine now, he just has trouble jumping off the couch, and my bed. I will give you guys more updates soon :p
