Yea I was dubious of those sizes myself! Maybe it was with the shelf thingie in the middle? Could someone clarify the size of the cupboards please! (the new version with the open section in the middle)

that cabinet height is 100% wrong.

Inside cupboards: 30cm deep, 23.5cm wide, 68cm height
Bit in the middle (where my EX1200is): 30cm deep, 26.5cm wide, 68cm height

I have drilled holes in the back of the middle bit of the cabinet for the hoses - is not bad. Can hardly see them. I had very reliable information that the back brace is is for stopping sideways motion rather than for strength support, so drilling into it is fine, does not affect the stand at all - and mine is still standing!

Im going to get a sheet of mdf, and hide the filter from view using that, with the magnetic strips that they use on kitchen units? Also have the filter standing on a bit of bathroom mat to deaden the sound a little bit.

I must admit that the Ex1200 was supposed to be silent - but mine isnt - it hums. HOWEVER the TetraTec customer service are fantastic, and they say that yes the unit should be silent, and they are sending me out a new motor unit free of charge - I bought my filter second hand, and they didnt even ask for proof of purchace or anything, they are really good.

And that is all I have to say :)

Well thanks for clearing that up! I'll probably do what you've done then, the filter was just ordered yesterday so hopefully all of the tank will be with me by Christmas. Please do say how you get on with the mdf, I may try it myself later!

am sure this would fit in the cupboard if the shelve is removed. I have a juwel 125 with an Ehiem 2777 filter and fits fine.

It only fits in the middle bit...not the cupboards :) (rio 180)
Fair enough - eyesore though and big holes to drill too for the hoses of course.

I dont think its an eyesore, its a smart looking filter and very quiet. You could always make a door/panel to fit on the middle bit ? Would it fit in one of the sides if you took the door off ? I just got a EX1200 and i have to remove the door to take it out but hey, 10 seconds with a screwdriver is no prob ;) Its a great filter. If you need something thinner and change your mind about what you are gonna get, the JBL cristalprofi's are thinner.

Welcome brother! if i can find a spare bit of skin i might get a tetratec tattoo :p

You both KNEW that I would get one hahaha ! (Say this with a South African Accent and it works.... "Once You got TETRATEC you will never go Back" lol). The great thing is, Guys, I got it for £40 delivered with a full set of NEW media and a half set of new media on top of that ! Had to buy a spraybar but apart from that it was a blinding deal.

Cracking deal buddy! You won't regret it!! :D

Of that I have no doubt. Perhaps it is such a magical filter it will get rid of the pong in my tank too !!!

I already have carbon sponge in the current filter though, and its not touched it. Although everyone seems to say that carbon granules is way better.
