some one said that i was horrible for putting my mollie down because it killed many fish. he said it was tourture because i was trying euthanism on it. what do u all think?

I think it's wrong.......you should have taken it to a LFS or something, not KILL IT!!! There HAS to be a LFS SOMEWHERE close to you......even if it meant driving an hour I think it is something a responsible fish owner should do Sorry man!

Hey, I chose not to vote, because, although I'm not against euthanasia I don't really think that the fact that the fish kills is a good enough reason. After all, you could have given the fish away or kept it in a separate tank.

I suppose that if the fish was just mean, and would kill any fish it was put with, then it's kind of acceptable, but on the other hand I'm sure that you could always find a more aggressive fish that would keep it under control.

I read your situation (in a different post) and it sounds to me that you have tried to rehouse the fish and no one will take it. If you can't afford a little tank for it then I don't see what's wrong with euthanizing humanely.
Personally I would get another little tank for it, but that's not always an option for everyone.
Also, if you are euthanizing correctly, it's not like a healthy fish would feel pain and a diseased one wouldn't.

it actually died i put it back in the tank and it was eaten, i think a gourami did it, i didnt kill it, i wanted 2 euthanise it, but i didnt. i was asking ur opinion.
what would u do w/the fish then? oh, and the fish was a molly. not like one that wasnt compatable.

That's a very good idea about another fish keeping it in check......happens often...in ALL my tanks actually. There is always 1 fish that just "Won't have any fighting"...!!!!!

oh, no, lol. i wanted 2 euthanise it, but i couldnt do it. so i put the living molly back in the tank and when i went and checked on them this morning it was dead. i think the gourami killed it because it had alot of its tailing missing.
and actually i did put it in w/my brothers fish, and it attacked the cichlid. and the cichlid was hurt to and didnt come out of its hidding spot for 2 days.

NO I think WRS was saying he took the fish out and put it in some thing else then when he returned it to the tank the other fish ate it. Maybe you found out what fish does not like fighting . Well I guess it's a good thing but I'm not shure I guess sorry about your loss or maybe not But problems solved.

I know someone who gave an oscar an ice bath and it took 30 minutes to die because it tried to bite her when she stuck her hand in. I think that is STUPID. Some fish are aggressive by nature and you can't train a fish like a dog so if it tries to bite you that's not right to kill it!!!

I would never have dreamed of killing my aggressive krib. I gave her a tank to herself. I know mollies are not known to be aggressive but to me the values are the same and it is wrong. Other provisions should have been made, it's a responsability we take on when we encorporate others' lives into our own. The fish being aggressive may have been a sign of something else, overcrowing breeding or so on. No matter, it still should not be killed because it is inconvienent.

so u want it to go back and get bought by more ppl and have it kill theyre fish 2? i actually asked my petsmart but they said that they didnt take any fish, and the reason was because ppl. send in fish 2 them that are diseased or very agressive that kill, ya know it makes them waste money because if the fish goes in the tank and kills them 2.

but ill add another part to my question.
u have a nice tank with all compatable species. u reasurched and sked questions and they all go good together. so one day u see a dead fish. its all eaten. the next day theres another, until just ones left. u go and buy more fish and they mostly get all killed to, and that same fsih is still alive. and the fish were al passed warenty because they were doing all so good u got more and that one was the killer. so now you wasted $100 dollars on fish. poof its gone, because of one fish. ur not going to spend anymore money on it because all the moneys uve already spent. u ask ppl. tha have fish and none of them want it because of how it acts. what honestly would u do.

and as to what cheese specialsit said, what if u cant afford anything else? whatif u have no room at all, and ur parents say n more tanks. u probly dont live w/parents that say if ya can have more tanks. if i did have the money and the permission i wuld have gotten it another tank.
