do we really NEED another reason...

well im saying it to you because you seem to know about this petco thing.

I agree with jac.

In Chicago, to 2 Petco's near my home are disgusting.

LOL, I'm not really welcome in one, because I caused a of a scene due to the fact that they DO sell sick fish. The manager seemed not to care. She told me that maybe I should shop elsewhere. I wanted to sick my dog on the cow. Then pour malachite green in her wounds. :grr:

And, I got an employee of Petco to admit that they don't treat the sick bettas. They remove them from the shelf, but never add meds. They get credit from their distibuter for the dead ones. Think about it. It's cheaper for them not to medicate the sick ones. :grr:

It all depends on the specific store. It is not a chain-wide problem.

In my area the PETCO is terrible as well. I go in about once a week to have a look around while I'm doing errands in the shopping center. Everytime I go in there is a whole new staff. I hardly ever see the same person twice.

Last week when I was there, I got into a verbal arguement with some "customers" who were throwing guppies into the lionfish tank. I went and got an employee and she said "What, no one is over there?" So she walks back and just kind of looks around and goes back to the front. Didn't say a word to the idiots who did it. She no longer works there . . .

Yesterday there was only 10-15 bettas there. Most every single one had fin rot. One betta didn't have ANY tail at all. I asked the guy working the fish dept. what happened and he says "I dunno."

PETSMART on the other hand is great. Can't say they are the most knowledge but they try. I was helping a customer the other day and one of the employees came over and said "Gee your good! Want an application?"

Neither of these stores carry Bettamax. But my LFS does. And Aquatronics is just down the street from my work. If anyone needs some Bettamax, PM me and I will pick some up for you. It's only $5.99 :D

Thread hijacking . . . :p

the tumor on his eye is called pop eye and why did you bye him with a illness :dunno:

because i was interested in the tumor. i had never seen one like it before and wanted to know if i could treat it. but of course its a tumor, so i couldnt. i dont buy bettas from petco (that was the only one). i even saw a gorgeous tri-band halfmoon with extremely intense colors the other day but didnt buy him.
