I have tried Jack with all sorts of fancy Betta foods, flakes, pellets, you name it. He'll try them but invariably spits them out pronto. He detests them. The boy wants bloodworms and only bloodworms. Is that okay? He's really a one note charlie here! Yes, he's incredibly healthy and well coloured. But still....(mind you my brother ate only French Toast and bacon for about 8 years  and he turned out alright!) Sorta......... :D

i dont think thats correct... where did you hear this?

i dont see a problem with feeding only bloodworms. the san farncisco bay brand betta food is only blood worms. just make sure you are using a brand with added vitamins-like hikari.

Geez guys chill out in here!

Mine will eat anything forzen, brine shrimp, formula I, etc. Try mixing it up a bit with other frozen foods and then try pellets again inbetween. he may start to like them and if he doesn't one day without food won't hurt him.

Also if you can stick with frozen bloodworms, freezedried aren't good for them, frozen are.

i ain't chillin out!!! you'd be mad too if you have no clue where your bf is, and then you find out he's posting about things he doesn't know about, and never told you he was goin somewhere!

i still don't know where that freakin bum is!

sorry...i'm hijackin here :*)

why arent freeze dried good for them? i know frozen are better and mine always prefer frozen to freeze dried, but i dont think freeze dried is bad for them.

Sorry, I didn't mean they were bad, I feed my boys freeze dried bloodworms once a week (I'm allergic to frozen bloodworms for some reason) freeze dried foods are just hard to digest so you don't want to use them too much or they can lead to problems. ;)

Also, live or frozen foods have more nutritional value than freeze-dried foods. I feed my betta freeze-dried foods once a week.

Now I'm all confused.

bettatalk.com says:

Freeze dried live food ...I highly recommend it, because unlike the above live foods, it is sterile and will not bring any diseases or parasites into your tanks.

Frozen live food ...One warning though, I believe there is a correlation between frozen foods and parasites, especially ich.

I have yet to buy any bloodworms or brine yet, but am planning too. I have yet to decided if I'll go freeze dried or frozen. I was planning to do freeze, but now I don't know.

Thanks for all the info and some really good laughs besides! I admit feeding a Betta daphnea(water fleas) isn't something I'd ever heard of. I don't think I can get anything frozen here, just the dried stuff. Dang eet! Would he go after live brine shrimp? Just curious...he's obviously a predator, the way he stalks round the tank and shoots forwards, then stops on a dime...with those fins he's sure got water brakes.

Hmmm, now I'm hoping Jack doesn't get any digestive problems...he's rather picky over which bloodworms he eats too...if they're dried out and nothing but shell he spits them out, doesn't like his bran I guess. Then if they're too full of blood, ie. all thick and hard, he spits them out too. So I'm getting all touchy feely with the bloodworms ahead of time to make sure he'll take them. That fish is training me good!

Thanx again,

Steppy how did the spanking go?
