Diy Simple Plastic Hood

I want to make my own plastic or glass hood for my 30g long. What kind of plastic or glass should I use?

I want it to be a simple two piece hood with two or more hinges and a handle. Can someone guide me in the right direction via links or by there own experience and knowledge?

You might want to look at a store like Tap Plastics. There must be something similar in Ontario.
They cut the acrylic of your choice to any size and they sell acrylic hinges and solvent. They might even do the full assembly for you.
