Hello all!

I am a bit skint for cash, especially for 2 peices of shiny metal that cost like £10!

Anyway, i wanted to throw some ideas together regarding DIY reflectors and how to do them.

My idea is thus:

Tank: Trigon 190L
lights: 2x18w T8 tubes - 1 red and 1 white

The flap covers on the trigon are in 2 different shapes, one in a triangle and the other a rectangle with one elipsed edge.

I am thinking of sticking some tin foil using aquarium sealent to the underside of the flaps facing the lights, obviously the dull side is what i would use to adhese it to the flap and thus the shiny side would face down reflecting the light.

My concern is: With evaporation, would the water erode the tin foil in any way leading to metal poisoning of the water?

Thanks in advance for any and all opinions!

ive used homemade foil reflectors for years with no ill effect. do need to replace it after a while as the "shine" eventually gets dull. other than that, not one problem :)
cheers
