My advice would be some sort of UPS and a crash system.
When planning marines, always assume that everythign that can go wrong, will go wrong. I wouldn't want to have anything controlled electronically just to have it all go pear shaped in a power cut.
There are controllers on the market (which cost the proverbial arm and a leg) so you could look at them and see what they do...
