Hello everyone,

I have decided to go with a pressurized CO2 system instead of the nutrafin systems. I have been looking at the DIY Fire extinguisher set up and I was wondering if you can just use a CO2 tank instead, or if it does have to be a CO2 fire extinguisher. Thanks for any help!

I have used "pub bottles" and have now swapped to disposable welding cylinders... as they are WAY smaller, and last over a year anyway !
As long as its food grade CO2, its all the same stuff !

What do you mean by "food grade" co2? Are there really different kinds? I've been thinking about using a paintball co2 canister for pressurized co2. Would the stuff they put in it at the sports store be safe?

Thanks, sorry for butting into the thread.

The phrase "food grade" was put in as a rider, or disclaimer... :/ The food grade bit is more pertenent to the filling process... it dictates a "cleaner" process - ie suitable for consumption by humans.
The containers may also be "cleaner" or glass lined. There could also be an issue of gas purity... you ONLY want CO2 !!!!!

Having said that, I doubt gas sold for welding is all that different... and I have been using it for a few years now, with no problems...

"Yer pays yer money, and yer teks yer choice" as they say !

Sorry for any confusion

Ah Okay, that makes sense. I'll keep that in mind when fillin' up!
