DIY Caves

Thanks Jimmy and Andy. :)

Jimmy- I have a difficult time using this method for gravel, too. I've decided it's not worth the effort. If you've got sand in any of your tanks, try making sand-covered caves. I like them so much better. :D

Great idea cutechic! I have a gravel pvc pipe (huge one) took me hours to put together and the gravel has come apart bit by bit over time. Yours look awesome, keep us posted on how they do in water

They look awesome

I cannot find GE Silicone I any where, Does anybody know of a safe alternative? My local Menards and Home Depot used to carry it, but now they moved to some generic brands.

Sorrell- I've noticed that I didn't apply enough silicone, so some of the outer layer of sand has come off. It isn't noticeable unless you look for it, though.

Flash7954- The silicone I use is the only one I know of that has been proven to be safe for aquarium use (other than silicones in lfs sold specifically for the aquarium, of course). Here's the link to Home Depot's GE Silicone I, in case you need to order it off the net. Home Depot There's a flat shipping fee in the US of $5.91, plus taxes. :/ You can probably find it cheaper elsewhere, if you look around.

Edit: I just noticed that mwm uses a different type of silicone:

Maybe he can recommend it. I don't know if it'd be available in the US, though. -_-
