O M G I just went nuts. I am calling all of my local garden/landscaping businesses to find slate cheap. Those are too gorgeous! I'm making one. Great link Lucy :good: :yahoo: :thanks: :drinks:

I love craft projects too haha.. thats the only thing thats keeping me going through this fishless cycle haha !!!!!

I'm using aquarium silicone took me ages to get some cheap...LFS wanted nearly £20 a tube!!!

Im liking this drilling into a rock idea....might pop to the Garden centre tomoz

Oh with the coconut start from the bottom and build up in layers(let the silicone dry first)
Hmm, does it have to be a special silicone?
If any silicone, can I build a tank at home since my dad has a lot of silicone in a tube? All I'd need are some big pieces of glass to make a 1 foot tank. Carrying a 1 foot tank all the way home without a car would be nasty... X_X

it needs to be aquarium safe. but not specifically Aquarium. if you see what i mean.
most diy and boat shops will stock the stuff you need. at £5 for 310mm. its, always, clear, incidentally. and a lot less difficalt to find, than most state.

its a lot easer to carry a 1 foot tank, than build one. not to mention it will, probably, take more than one 310ml tube to do, even, a 1 foot tank.

drilling a rock, unless its sand or lime stone, is a specialist job. needing quite expensive diamond core tools. and a low speed drill.
but I'd be interested in the result

Hehe I'm gonna try a masonry bit and some Hammerdrill action :hyper:

But im going slate so it will be crumbly.

How do you carry a 1-food long tank with no car? o_O Sure, we have a big bag, but the weight might be too heavy and it's hard enough convincing my mother to let me get a bigger tank in the first place. I'll have to pay for it whenever I get paid (so far still not paid X_X ). If my mom wants to spend MY money on clothes for me again, I'll get mad! X( I have a wardrobe full of clothes that I never wear (that could just go to the homeless for all I care).

you are joking right? a one foot tank can be carried in one hand by anyone. it cant weigh much more than 2kg, if that. but any good shopping bag will hold it, no problems.
I carried a two and a half foot tank a mile or more when i got it. I just put it on my shoulder and walked.
