DIY Aquaponics using fish tank

What kind of plants do you want to grow? I have Pothos, Monsterra, Wandering Dude, Lucky Bamboo, Asparagus Fern and Peace Lillys growing in my tanks - though the Asparagus Fern is failing at the moment.

Wills

It's complex, and better done with larger tanks. I've grown basil on tanks. The roots are in the water, and it draws nutrients from fish wastes. I haven't really looked into other herbs. Having them on top of the tank is a little awkward for the fishkeeping side.

Aquaponics can be complex, or simple as my experiments were. Fresh basil in a Canadian winter was nice.

Can you show me your aquaponics experiments please?

I never took pictures. I ate all the evidence.

I used the hard plastic grills they used to sell for fluorescent lights. They could be cut. I had the young plants pushed through the 1cm by 1 cm holes, with the roots in a well filled tank. On the tank (a 275 litre), the grill covered maybe 20cm at one end, and there was natural light. I had Geophagus in the tank, and did regular water changes anyway because they are delicate fish.

I got a lot of basil, but my wife decided she didn't want to eat anything from a fishtank, and so I moved on. I have been thinking of doing it again this winter.

Interesting, but unfortunate that you didn't take the pictures.
