Distinguishing 2 Similar Species

That's a festae. The smaller spot and also the vertical bars right behind the head touch. A Uro's bars are completely vertical and never touch and the spot on the tail covers more.

It's been so long (years and years) since I've had a festae or even seen one in person. Makes me jealous. Uro's are beautiful fish too. I've never had one but a couple friends of mine did and they were great fish, also.

That's a beautiful fish!!!! :good:

Thanks for the compliment and helping me decide! In the 3rd and 4th pics you might be able ot see it, but there is a scar above her gill plate i nthe corner, like almost on it, then there is a scratch scar running the entire length of her body from there coming out of the gillplate scar. It makes me wonder what she was having a war with... the girl is so scared and beaten up. i'm sure she'll make a full recovery though once she gets out of the quarenteen and into a nice tank :D.

edit: they seem liek really great fish :good:.

if you want one, i could give you someone on another forum that is selling his fry for $14 each ($4 for the fish $10 for shipping) jsut PM me and I'll give you more of the details :)... that is if you are interested in gettign another one...

Nice pickup but it is a male. The price you paid is much less than festaes that size sell for. Females have a dark bluish green patch on the dorsal males do not.
