Does anyone have any information on how to properly disinfect a tank after a fish has died of internal parasites? I recently bought two puffers from an LFS and they never ate and eventually died. The concensus among people on the forum as well as my local lfs is that they had parasites.

I have washed out their tank useing how water, changed the substrate and plants and added new filter media, but I don't want to add any more fish until I am sure this has killled all the parasites. I am re-cycling the tank now....any suggestions?

I believe parasites will die on their own without a host to feed off of. I would disinfect just in case it was more than a parasite.

I disinfect tanks & related equipment with a bleach/water solution. One ounce per gallon works well. For tanks I add water & bleach, let it sit for around 10 minuites, drain & refill with tap water with double the usual dechlorinator. wait another 10 minuites, drain, & refill & set up, or just drain & leave it until I need it.

Many people are leery of using bleach, it's basically concentrated chlorine, the same as is in chlorinated tap water. Some folks use a salt water solution, which works great on most bacteria, but won't harm many viruses. Bleach takes care of them all.
