Discus are easy to look after if you have the time IMO, Deffo not a beginner fish though. Ive been keeping them since April this year and found that the Key is plenty of water changes and good food. I admit I did make a few mistakes at the begining, bout a few crap fish and did loose a few but I am pretty confident now and have learnt alot from alot of people.

My PH is 7.6 and TDS is 250ppm ish, I do a 1/4 - 1/3 water change every day or every second day using HMA water, Ive got an RO but dont feel the need to use it. I feed them beefheart which comes from Beighton aquatics in Sheffield, Artemia and tetra prima. On Thursday a pair I have even laid eggs. I keep my discus with a few catfish, a BN plec and a L200a plec. Sometimes you do have to watch the plecs as my BN has had hold of a couple of my discus.

DON'T buy them from any old where. There is alot of crap about. Go to a specialist, I am quite lucky as there are 2 private breeders within a 10 min drive from my house.
