yes, 80 or higher

from what i've heard, they should be kept in larger groups of 6 or so, but paired discus are territorial and somewhat aggressive

as you have been told repeatedly, dwarf puffers are not suitable to a community setting--so YES, you will have a problem there.

there are many different opinions about how a discus tank should be decorated. if you are not going to have a bare-bottom tank, then you should have taller/broad-leaved plants :dunno: . discus do not need caves, but large objects to hide behind are generally welcome.

discus like soft water with a low pH. they are sensitive to ammonia/nitrate poisoning, so water quality must be kept very high. (low pH water contains more toxic ammonia, further complicating maintenance.)

the high temperatures needed for discus are generally detrimental to other community fish like guppies, plecos, cory cats, etc. discus are also predatory and will attempt to eat what will fit in their mouths. since an adult discus can reach anywhere between 8 and 12 inches, this rules out neons and other small, slim-bodied fish. discus are also rather timid and thus should not be housed with highly active or even mildly aggressive fish. thus you are rather limited in tankmates suitable for discus.

discus are South American Cichlids; there is a wealth of information in that forum.

actually, when you say they're not the best community fish LF, you're wrong.
You just have to keepi them in the right community.
They enjoy larger tetras as tank mates, the most commonly used ones are the cardinal tetra and the rummy nose tetra. neons will get eaten.
They can quite happily live with dwarf cichlids/apistogramma and the like.
Pleco's are a big no no as tank mates as they suck the slime coat off discus(they do with all disc shaped fish) so should not be used.
But remember, when starting a discus tank only get discus first, then add fish later because as said before, they are very skittish

Cian Mcliam wrote a good beginers profile on them
