I have been noticing two of my discus acting very aggressive to the rest of the tank mates for the last few days. When I looked closer I noticed what appears to be eggs attached to the side of a divers helmet (ornament). Is it best to try and move the mating pair and the helmet, or will they be able to protect the young from 6 other smaller discus, 2 geophagus, a royal plec and a school of corys.

This is the first time this has happened and would love to see as many survive as possible

Just move the eggs into a tank of there own and add a small air stone to make sure the water is getting pushed into them slighting.

This is what the female would do if she where there. She would use her tail though :)

I take it you should transfer the parents too, as I believe the fry will feed from the mucus from the mothers gills for the first week or so. By the way the eggs have now hatched, so i am not sure if I should transfer or not now

Leave the parents with the fry- it is extremely difficult to hatch eggs and raise the new fry in a sep tank.

If the fry survive, you will need live bbs for them when they are done feeding off the parents slime.

They have already moved the fry to another location in the tank, and are still chasing all the other fish away.

Is live bbs, live brineshrimp
