just the way i would have done it
If the accomodation staff are anything like at my uni having the tank wouldn't be worth the hassle or cost of the fines you'd be given.
Unfortunately we cannot accept any pets at all i'm afraid as we would not want to set a precedent. Sorry about this.
Hi again,
I just wanted to say I wouldn't class them as 'pets' by any stretch of the imagination. They are a 'hobby', which I take quite a lot of pride in for that matter! They would be in a closed environment (with a small padlock to stop anyone other than myself opening the lid), so no escaping. As they wouldn't be able to escape, not that they'd survive out of water for more than a minute or so, I'd class the tank as a feature. In much the same way as a plant.
Technically I'm not breaking any rules by owning a tank, and freshwater invertebrates are not listed as being against the rules.
I'm not trying to imply I'm going to set the tank up anyways. It's just that you could give me permission without setting any precedence as you wouldn't technically be allowing me to break any rules. You'd just be rewarding someone who decided to check first.
