This is going to sound like a really stupid question but I returned from a 10 day holiday - during which time I left my fish unfed (2 bristlenose, 6 tiger barbs, 6 zebra danios) - to find myself missing one of the bristlenoses

I removed all the rocks from the tank, stirred the sand around, took the filter apart and there are no fish remains - it just disappeared

The only explanation I can think of is that it was eaten - bones and all - is this possible?

Thanks

it is possible, but did you check the undersides of your driftwood? a lot of suckerfish will panic and just latch onto tank decor for dear life if you're removing a lot of it.

i would say it died and the other fish ate it , bones n all

I don't know, mine has gone without being seen for days at a time and has happily clung onto pieces of bog wood / the filter as I have lifted them out of the tank.

Chuck a bit of cumcumber in there for a couple of hours and see if it magically re-appears.

Did he jump out of the tank while u were away. I have heard of BN's doing that before.
