Definitely Getting A New Cat Soon

Comfort looks like a lovely boy - but how anyone could just let an animal that's been part of the family, go after 9 months boggles the mind though. Unless of course they don't fit in and don't get along with current residents.

yeah I don't know how people can do it. I know if I fostered a cat I'd end up keeping it.

Good luck either way. Though have to say Samson and Fred look like absolute (very similar to Comfort) gorgeous boys too :good:
Haha, obviously it's not easy to give them away after so long, which would be why she's thinking of keeping him . She'll surely keep at least one of them, it's not just Comfort, but also his (I think 2?) sisters that she's thinking of keeping.

I don't care for either Samson nor Fred... I'm really good at getting a basic idea of what a cat is like by their eyes and the way they carry themselves, and neither really appeals to me judging by pics alone. I do like Julian, but he is not in Austin and it would be a 4 hour drive if I were to visit him, so that's probably a no-go, since I would like to visit multiple times before taking any cat home.

Cassie is also nice, but I was kinda hoping for a male... If I can't get Comfort I will probably check her out

Oh and Chase is very handsome as well! I'd give him a look

Can you see the consistent face shape I keep picking out?
I swear, they say you can't judge a book by its cover, but in some cases you definitely can to an extent.

awwwwww i would take them all on if i could :)

already have 3 cats but i really wnt a 4th , am trying to butter up my hubby to let me have another , as i let him have the fish :)

Curses, I just noticed Cassie isn't to be kept with dogs anyway, so she's out of the picture :/
Maybe they would make an exception for my 3.5lb chihuahua, she's smaller than a cat

You'd like my cat Dodge - he's part Siamese and has the face. :D

Sadly, he's also got "issues" - he's the only gender and species confused cat. He thinks he's a female dog. I jest you not - he comes into season, has/nurses kittens (his fluffy toy balls) and also plays fetch

LOL Kathy, too funny!! He's a charmer for sure

Ok, I have a backup plan now. My list of possible cat companions is as follows, in order of interest:
Comfort
Chase
Cassie (her profile says "not with dogs", but they might make an exception for my 3.5lb chihuahua, maybe )
Clover (a new find; ditto Cassie's problem though. The only reason she's last is I'd feel bad taking her away from her sister)

my baby's part siamese too

this is her best 'i'm going to take over the world' face

I swear if she could laugh it'd be MWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Just a little update, not that anyone particularly cares, hehe.
I finally moved on the 5th, and went to visit some cats at the Shadow Cats adoption center on Thursday. Oh my goodness, that was a trip... I had almost forgotten how much I love cats! When I left I had 12 different kinds of cat hair on me, lol. They were all just free-roaming throughout several rooms in the facility. Comfort's foster decided to keep him, and I'm glad; that's really so much better for him, and there are plenty of other cats out there who need a home.
One cat at Shadow Cats in particular struck me, Diva. She was very suspicious and even fearful of me at first, but I got to pet her before I left... the lady looking after them was very surprised at that, she said it took her a long time to gain Diva's trust. I'm going to visit some more cats that are with fosters before deciding, but Diva is definitely on the maybe list, particularly since her skittish nature makes her hard to place. There are plenty of people to take the friendly, outgoing cats, but it takes a lot of patience to deal with a shy and fearful cat, and for animals I have nothing but patience.

Wow! nice one, it was for me, between rescueing a cat or buying a kitten. But i found a stray cat. she was very skinny etc. She is a black and white tuxedo. I think i did something wrong as she is very very fat now  but atleast she is happy :D

Bless you!

I wish more people had that attitude. I'm an adoption counselor in the states, and everyone wants the cute little kitten that will end up growing up to be the cat across the hall in six months, but no one every thinks of that.....

Good luck in find the right companion! It can be overwhelming, seeing that many cats - but I always tell people when they're unsure - when you find the right cat, you'll just know. :good:

Truer words were never spoken
I am exclusively interested in an adult or at least teen cat for the very reason you mentioned -- everyone wants the kittens. Kittens are practically guaranteed a home while the adults get looked over again and again, especially the ones who would rather hide from you than come say hello, but they are just as wonderful once they get to know you.

I'm pretty good in that I know exactly what I want in a cat. I can instinctually just see it in their eyes if they are the one for me. I think you're exactly right, when I find the right cat, I will know. I am going to meet a few others, but right now I am excited about going to see Diva again on Tuesday, I have a good feeling about her :)

Well, I've found my cat!
I was going to visit some fosters and meet some other cats, but the other rescue organization took several days to reply to me, and in that time I visited the Shadow Cats rescue two more times and Diva stole my heart. I was just there today and finally got to see her sister cat, Mia, too, who was also very sweet.

The head of the rescue wasn't there today, but I let the volunteer who was there know I was interested in Diva, and she's going to leave a note about it, so hopefully the paperwork and whatnot will be in order and I can pick her up Saturday... otherwise, it'll have to wait until Tuesday. I went out and bought some kitty furniture and stuff today just incase, I want everything to be ready. She's a fearful cat, so the initial move is going to be hard on her as it is, and I wanted to make sure she had her own private space where she could hide and feel safe if she needs to. She has been following me around when I visit and begging for attention even though she is normally very fearful of anyone new, so I kind of feel like she chose me rather than the other way around :)

However, I've gotten attached to some of the other cats too, but not enough to want to adopt (I'm a one cat person)... so, I'm also going to try to volunteer there at least once a week! :D I'd miss Tabitha, Mia, Percival and all the rest of the crew. Anywho, here's Diva... more pics to come :)

She is very beautiful! I can't believe a cat that pretty can end up in a shelter! You luck thing!

I know, really! She was rescued from a feral colony as a kitten. She has a gorgeous sister still at the rescue named Mia
