I'm moving August 5th, and will most likely be getting a cat after, despite my mother's best efforts to convince me not to (she's one of those "your apartment will smell like cat pee!" people). I lost my cat several months ago though, and I've been feeling a major void without one... it has been years since I've lived without a cat for more than a couple of weeks, I can't see life without one. Anyway, I was looking for cats in the city I'm moving to on Petfinder just for kicks, and man did I find the cutest loverboy. I know he probably won't be there by the time I move, but I had to email about him anyway, he's just such a charmer. His description reminds me a lot of a cat I once had and adored. I just wanted to share

You can see the intelligence in his eyes

he certainly is a looker, aand his discription makes him sound fantastic if he was in England, I'd want to give you a run for your money for him, though I think CFC would have a heart attack if I got another cat.

That looks similiar to my cat, except with a lot less fur. I know what you mean about having a cat. I had one all my life until I moved out of the house and went to college. There was definately a void there.

:kewlpics:

Ooooo is he part Birman? He's lovely :D
Could be, he's definitely part ragdoll, or so they say
He's the type that's shy around new people, which is exactly what I like... the ones that take a while to get to know. Gosh I hope he's still around after I move . I mean, I hope he finds a good home with anyone for sure, but I'd rather it be with me :shifty:

I got an email back about Comfort (the cat's name)... apparently he has been in foster care for 9 months (can you believe it!?) and the person I contacted said it is kitten season so she thinks it's unlikely he'll be gone by August!!   I hope she's right! I'm going to start the process of getting pre-approved for adoption right now so I won't have to wait for that once I move :)

Thats great Synirr! Wow, 9 months? I'm surpised he wasn't snatched up the minute he walked into the shelter, he's beautiful (or should I say handsome)! I really hope he's still there when you move! Good luck :D

I've sent in my application and will probably go visit him in a couple of weeks

They called for the phone interview today and I made a good impression :D
Apparently the one who usually processes their applications just moved, and somewhere along the way the original application I sent slipped through the cracks, so I had to resend it, which is why it took them so long to get in touch.

The lady who called me said Comfort's foster is thinking about keeping him... good news for him, bad news for me -_- . That would probably be ideal for him, since he has been there over 9 months and is used to the house and everyone in it, but after I've been obsessing over him for nearly a month it's kind of a letdown. I emailed his foster about arranging a visit this weekend and she still hasn't decided for sure if she's keeping him or not. I guess I'll be visiting him this weekend, but still might not be able to get him :/

Either way, I told them to go ahead and process my application, so I can take my time and fall in love with some other cat if Comfort is out of the picture. They currently have 30 cats at their main shelter, and it's kitten season, so there will be plenty to choose from. I prefer to adopt an adult or older kitten if I can though, since everybody wants a cute little kitten and they tend to get adopted while the older cats wait in the wings.

awwww, good luck on the approval and everything.

good on you getting an older cat! less hard work, already house-trained! (hopefully!)

Cant believe you might not be getting him! And definately good on you for taking preference on having an older cat than a kitten :good:! Hope you manage to get one soon!

Comfort looks like a lovely boy - but how anyone could just let an animal that's been part of the family, go after 9 months boggles the mind though. Unless of course they don't fit in and don't get along with current residents.

Good luck either way. Though have to say Samson and Fred look like absolute (very similar to Comfort) gorgeous boys too :good:
