Deep Blue Sea? - Dannys Questions & Tropical Build ...

Please check my thread on API Quick Start. It may aid in getting your cycle going and even quicken it but you still need to follow a true fishless cycle. Good luck. Otherwise, great start to your tank :good:

Thanks for your help guys!

Looking at a stocking suggestion now so please point me out where wrong

2 x Male Gourami
1 x Male Betta
3 x Male Guppy
7 x Female Guppy
10 x Neon Tetras

& some sort of bottom dwelling gravel cleaner? Not sure what though!?

Dont they grow huge?

Does the rest of my stockng list look okay? Its a 125l tank

I might be wrong but I think the beta may take a huge exception to the guppies. They look similar so it might want to fight them to the death. I may be completely off but I think I heard it somewhere

When you introduce fish how slowly should they be introduced?

And at what point can i introduce a CUC? - Also what can the CUC consist of?

CUC as per marine tanks don't really exist in a tropical set up.

There are some fish that eat algae, with variable success, such as the bristlenose mentioned, and some shrimps that will do a bit of tidying, but no real CUC.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by 2 male gouramis? IME they tend to be fairly territorial when you have multiple males and the betta's have a similar mindset. You may have a fight on your hands with that combo.

I quite like cherry shrimps .. are they community safe? - say 2 maybe 3?

Gouramis are best kept in pairs right? 2 females to every 1 male? - i like the male colouring more so was going for 2 as the tank seems large enough to give them swimming space without aggression?

The Betta & the gourami combo - hmmm to be honest i havnt a clue here .. do you think if i found a betta& gouramis already living in a community tank that it may be safer and i may have less if not no problems? or do you think i should rethink my stocking?

Okay id much rather the shrimp and gouramis than the betta so he can keep out lol - stuck for stocking ideas now!

Would also like to point out i did a 10% water change yesterday and a 30% today and the horrible brown water is still present?! - How long will this take to go away its disgusting!
