Hey guys!

Ive looked around and im trying to find out more about the use of dead leaves in home aquaria!

I have seen one or two tanks in the past with leaves on the bottom, I think it was an amazonian themed tank and in my honest opinion it looked great!

I would like to set up my newly bought 3 -foot tank in an amazonian theme with some swords etc Cardinals, Apistos and I really want some dead leaves!

Any Help on the matter would be greatly appreciated and any pictures anyone knows of would be great :)

Thanks alot

Richie

Use some indian almond leaves. They look great and if your after a blackwater tank leak tannins and lower your ph. Cna pick them up off of ebay.

Aswell as the almond leaves, you can also use dead, dry, oak and beech leaves. Give them a boil before you use them and then let the aquascaping begin. They don't rot quickly in aquariums.

Thanks lads :)

I think ill go with the free option ...

The oak leaves etc ...

So i can just go oout pic them up boil and clean them and then use ?

and any ideas on if and when i would have to change them...

Im guessing i should change them every so often for fresher ones ?

Ill start up a tank journal for it :)

I am decorating my bedroom soon and i saw a 3foot fluval tank with all the trimmings at a car boot :|

For 22quid soo i bought :)

Everythings fine with it all i need to do is boost the lighting as it is just a fluval uno (One light fixture)

I will also upgrade the interal filter to a Ehiem Echo or something else along those lines maybe a fluval 204 all depends on what i feel like at the time :)

Wont be too long until i start probably in the later stages of this month!

Thanks alot

im not sure but its under somthing like rio biotope, just search for oak or biotope or somthing along those lines, hope it helps :)

I use oak and Indian almond leaves in my shrimp tank. Dry brown leaves are recommended usually, I just soak them until they sink, the shrimp eventually eat them as they decompose.
