daisy, my beloved platy died today at 2 years of age
she was a good fish
never bothered anyone
just brightened the tank with her brilliant yellow and orange
she will be remembered by all
*moment of silence* :byebye:

:rip: ~Daisy~ :rip:

just another note
is it just me or are guppies and platies weak?
even the most skilled fish keepers lose them in 2 years over here
i heard they can live longer
maybe it's just weak breeding? too much imbreeding?
whichever it is, this is the worst part of keeping fish
Zorro (the male platy) still has his girls (Xena the female betta and cinnamon the female platy)
should i replace daisy? (as morbid as that sounds) :/

just wanted to add that it really makes it just that much worse when you find them crammed in a bush like i found daisy

-_- sorry to hear about your sweet daisy. i too believe there is as much bad breeding and selection in the fish world as there is in the dog world. i totally agree. i actually feel that way about mollies.

 i probably would get a new female for Zorro. i know my mollies mourned their mates and it definitely does not sound morbid.

i am soooo tired of going to purchase fish and seeing the mollies and platys with their fins clamped and dipped in ich

i'll get him another woman then
i did notice that daisy had clamped fins often,
i treated her for everything under the sun
i guess she was just old :-(

aww, im sorry. my mollies all died crammped up in plants as well. and platys imo should have the mates replaced asap. when my male platy died my poor fantasia was upset till i got her a new friend. id fell the same way u do if fantasia died, very sorry again.

Sorry to hear about Daisy - it can be rough to find them :( .
I think getting a replacement is a good thing and not morbid at all. Will give Zorro a new playmate and allow Cinnimon some much needed rest.

sorry to hear about your loss. the average lifespan is around 2 years and thats after taking good care :/

thanks everyone :)

BTW, i think Zorro is sterile
every couple of weeks he has one of his "happy days"
where he seems to "play" with the ladies all day but neither one of the girls have ever gotten pregnant (and beleive me i've been watching closely with crossed fingers) :X
well,
we shall see when i buy him a new lady friend :dunno:
their such a pleasure,
i wish they lived for a billion years

Sorry to hear about Daisy. Sounds like she had a good long life.

I know what you're going through. My panda cory died suddenly. I only had it about 2 months, it was still small. I'm not sure what happened. I don't think that the betta or swortail had anything to do with it because they're pretty peaceful fish and keep to themselves (as far as I've seen anyway). He was so cute and seemed so healthy :( .

Sorry abouit Daisy. :byebye:

To replace her, I think you should come to Chicago and pick up some of my baby swords. :shifty:

Trip to zoo and Shedd Aquarium included with the babies.
