cycling with zebra danios - how much ammonia is ok

I am new and cycling my first tank with 3 zebra danios because I understand they are hardy. How much can they take, though? I measure my ammonia constantly and I need to know if I should be considering .25ppm high, .5ppm high, or 2ppm high! How can I tell from their behavior that the ammonia is getting too high? What about nitrites, when that happens?

Its quite obvious when fish are in discomfort from chemical inbalances. They gasp at the surface, get blood streaked fins, are more susseptible (Sp?) to disease and the most common thing is flicking. as for the levels I can't tell you but don't worry loads of people will the levels will be quite high though. Have you read the cycling pinned post?
