Can I put just LR and Sand in the tank, will the LR cycle the tank?

I wanna try my hand at SW fish keeping, but I am stuck with a 10 Gallon puddle of water, can I put an clown fish in it? Can you suggest a few others that I can put with it?

How much would it take to turn a 10 gallon (big water puddle) into a pretty decent SW tank?

LOL big puddle of water...

Anywho, Yeah you can keep a clown in there. People with 10gallons usually go with the pair of clowns instead of mixing. But if your interested in mixing you can try gobies. Most gobies will do well in a 10gal. like a neon goby. Also, if you want to get corals you will need to get good lighting. IMO MH isn't needed for a 10gallon. PC's will work fine for softies and I think LPS. Lighting usually goes for 130-150. But if you buy it from a local reefer around your area then you would save.

L.R-10lbs $50-70
Lighting-$130-150
Water-30cents a gallon. Unless you get an R/O unit or already have one on your sink which would cost around 100-200 dollars.
Powerhead-$30
Heater-$15
Filter-Depends on which one you get.
Clownfish-$15-20
Goby-Depends on which one you want.

I think thats it as far as expenses go :good:
