I know that to cycle a 10 gallon aquarium, you add 4-5 drops of ammonia/day until nitrates appear, then reduce ammonia to 2-3 drops/day, so to cycle a one gallon do i just add about 1/2 a drop per day? :/

How far along is your ten gallon? if it's almost done cycling you could always just wait and add gravel and water from the 10, then your tank will instantly cycle

I've just started cycling the 10 gallon, but I have a 4 gallon and a 5 gallon that are established. I thought transferring gravel and water to a new tank would just partially cycle the tank

what are you going to keep in the 1 gallon?

If it's only one fish I'm sure gravel from the 4 or 5 will be sufficient enough to cycle the tank. You could probably throw a handful of cycled gravel in your 10 and speed up the cycle

But don't mind me :*) fishless cycles are great too!

I HAVE A 55 GALLON THAT I USED PART OF TO PUT IN A 2GALLON HEX. MY FILTER IS UNDERGRAVEL SO, I JUST TOOK A HANDFUL OF GRAVEL AND TWO GALLONS OF WATER PUT IT IN THE HEX THEN ADDED MY FOUR GUPPY FRY. THEY ARE DOING VERY WELL AND SEEM HEALTHY ALL THE TIME. JUST AND IDEA ;)
