Cycled tank still losing fish

I have a ten gallon aquarium that had an ammonia spike. I completely cleaned it out, boiled the decor and gravel, and cycled it. However when I get new fish they are dying within a day. Am I missing something? Ammonia is 000, ph is 7.4, 0 nitrits.

Where did the fish go? when you cleaned the tank out. Or was it empty.

Lost all the fish. It spiked while we were on vacation unfortunately.

Little bits of fish food. Some added bacteria. There is a whiteish substance on the food particles

I am not the best person to talk to about cycling, someone will help you out with the preferred method of cycling.

tested the water had ammonia levels and nitrite levels go up and down over 7weeks.

I’m not sure from your description that the tank was fully cycled.
