I have a 280 litre tank which has just completed its fishless cycle :D

So I want to start stocking this weekend. Would harlequin rasboras be a good fish to start off with, or can anyone recommend anything else - lemon tetra maybe.

Is it too soon to put other fish in, I really want a couple of kissing gourami's. Ultimatley I want an angel but am not rushing into buying one of those just yet.

Thanks all

congrats, i should be getting my fish this weekend too... nitrite is still taking about 15 hours to process (ammonia about 10) but it's been consistant for about a week now :good:

off topic i know... but are you allowed to clean all the algae and tidy up the tank along with the water change before adding fish? this won't effect the bacteria will it?

Ok, would everyone on this thread just stop showing off

No really, congrats and well done for getting your tank to cycle.

Thanks

It has taken exactly five weeks from start to finish. Really hope yours finishes soon......

After you fishless cycle, you MUST do a very large (75-90%) water change before you can add fish. You water will have very high nitrate levels in it from the cycling process. You can clean up you ornaments too if you want, and touch up your decorations or scrape away algae.
