I lost him today 
I've wracked my brains and I can't think why. I was doing water changes twice a week of around 50% so although the tank wasn't cycled before he went in there. It was around 1-1.5cm of shrimp in 6l of water. With around 1000x his bodymass in plants. And I also rarely fed him, removing the food within 24 hours when it wasn't eaten. About 5 weeks after I spotted him... and now he's gone.
He'd just started to get some decent colouring aswell. Perfect tiny red lines of colour.
I really wish I'd updated more now, with lots more pictures.
