I just received 20 A grade crystal red shrimp at $125 including postage and was wondering what everyone else pays. Personally I am really chuffed as they are not that common in Australia and had to travel for almost 3 days to get from Melbourne up to Central Queensland.

Personally I think you got a great deal. :good:

I think so  , the scary thing is it looks as though the black and white might be even harder to track down and cost even more than the red :/ .

I know that is correct... at least you can track down what you want, you have a better chance than what I can do. You might have to go overseas for that variety of shrimp and good luck with that one, knowing what our quarantine department is like. I hope you do get a hold of some, would love to see the pics....how about showing us some pics of your lovely crystal reds that you just got

I have bumble bee shrimp and I got mine for £1.50 each (£1 each last year!!!!) via this forum. I've never seen a bumble bee shrimp in the shop though.

Red Crystals in the shop start at £5 here.

5 Pound, even though I am not sure of the exchange rate that seems pretty cheap.

Thankyou, hopefully as they fully settle in thier colours will really improve. I can't wait until they start breeding and I start seeing heaps of them throughout the tank. It's a 4fter so they have plenty of places to colonize  .

They look awesome, i used to have some shrimp until my betta.... (you get the picture) I've been looking for shrimp and my lfs had rec crystal shrimp that were really expensive. You got a great deal there! :good: :good: :good: :good:

Thanks, after trawling through countless online sites and seeing the asking prices for some of the crystal reds when I saw this price I jumped on it straight away. They are really starting to colour up well now and around 15 have taken up prime position between a suspended net (breeding trap that's housing cory fry) and the front glass of the tank. I can often find another 2 or three else where in the tank so I am hoping that all 21 are still doing well. Lets face it in a 4ft tank with plenty of weed, timber and large rocks they have more than enough places to secret themselves away out of sight.

With regards to your fighter having a snack...my male and female fighter both snacked on some of my cherry shrimp, but have now realised that A. adult shrimp are too big for them to eat. and B. They don't have to eat the shrimp and they are now leaving the shrimp alone to do what cherry shrimp do best which is to eat and breed.
