Cruel IMO!

I know there are different opinions of animals in different parts of the world. Some of the larger fish we keep as pets are eaten in other countrys.

But to intentionally keep an animal in tiny conditions just for ornamental pleasure is terrible. And the main problems with bettas is the misconceptions that they will live in puddles, which they will, but only as a survival mechanism. Every betta keeper on the forum will say that the fish do better and are healthier when kept in larger tanks.

Regarding this topic, I would have to say that it's true. My betta went from a small 4" high, 3" wide cup into a 10 gallon. He couldn't be happier right now, and his colors have really come out. Simply amazing.

i knew people kept bettas in horribly small containers but this is beyond small, this is the pico of the smallest pico tank! come on, you can have a beautiful betta set-up in a tank of ATLEAST (better if more) 5 gallons. my lfs has an awesome 10 gallon tank with one betta and has everything a betta would want! filter, air pump, heater, blue/white lighting, lots of plants, lots of space to swim, and even an underwater tube (which they claim it sometimes go through). now that's how a betta should be treated, i wish i could buy them all and house them in their very own 5 gallons. alas, money, space and time are unfortunate factors...what to do, what to do...

They are really pretty. I like them without the fish in it. The one with the betta looks nice, but it's really cruel. I wouldn't mind having a forest or desert one though. :)

Actually, I beleive they use a funnel. There was (and probably still is) something similar on Ebay, had a link to a setup video... Youch.
