Critter? (Solved!)

Thanks DD....but holes in the vid much too large...these I have are only 1/4" in diameter

And I've lived with cicadas my entire life, but have never seen holes like the ones I have, nor the critters
And cicadas aren't long like what we can see from the second vid you posted

And, they are not predators, that I am aware of

The critters I have were ACTIVELY stalking and attacking prey

Another piece of the puzzle:

Yesterday evening, we had a strong storm pass through, lots of rain...we needed it, drought-like conditions here for quite a while

The dirt patch in my yard where dozens of the holes are were submerged after the storm...and the holes are still there...MUCH less amount of holes than yesterday, but there, and "open for business"...several of them

So...what did they do, and how did they survive, while their burrows were submerged, for several hours (?)

Do they have gills? Did they drown? Do they flee the burrows, and head to the grass, until the waters recede?

BTW, these holes are all throughout the grass lawn, as well, just harder to spot.

What in the world are these things??

I am quite curious to know, myself...I've seen them the last several years, maybe 10-15, but I've lived here nearly 60...and they were not around when I was younger...I'm certain of it

So, they must be an introduced organism

@Byron has many friends in the scientific field...wonder if he knows any entomologists?
