Four fish is too many fish for a 10g, I think I've said this before. When did you get a firefish?

In a 10g, you can have 2-3 well-chosen species. Both the firefish and the falco are more stationary perchers/lurkers. A fight was inevitable. The falco had established a territory and the firefish invaded it. Logical behavior.

Congratulations on reaching the 6 month mark. But, young grasshopper...

6 months is not stability. 6 months is better than 3 months, but not better than 12, which still isn't better than 18 months or even 2 years.

The most crucial time for a tank is between 9-12 months. I'm currently on pins and needles as one of my systems is about to pass that mark. When it passes that mark, I'll be much more happy.

The firefish was supposed to be in with my mocha clowns. They got vicious and attacked him. I moved him to my other tank, and as soon as his fins heal, he will be donated to my lfs. Its only for a cuple more weeks. I hope my tank makes it to 9 months. S far everythings fine. But in a reef like mine, a total wipeout can happen like *that*

Oh yes, i tried utting the firefish i isolation, but as soon as i opened the top, he jumped out into the main tank.

News. Falco is in with my mochas, and they are not bothering him. Good. I will be taking the firefish to my lfs, and i will be getting a Yasha Haze Goby with pistol shrimp.

Wanted a pistol+goby pair but decided it wasn't for my tank. Tell me how it goes, hear it is cool :#

Will be spending money on it though. I want the yasha haze because it is less messy than the YWG.

It may be less messy, it may not be. It's still a goby. The only goby I had that didn't make a mess was my panda goby, but that's because he just had very different habits.

A goby is a goby! I was thinking of a candy stripe pistol for its partner. Panda gobies arent symbiotic gobies, and they are very small. My emerald crab would probably eat it

My YWG hasn't been that messy but has showed interesting behavior. If a nassarius or and type of CUC(exept the humoungous hermits and snails) that get to close to his burrow he will start to bite at it and if they come closer he picks them up and moves them to the other side of the tank  . Plus my YWG doesn't really make a mess *back on subject*, he has a hole then takes sand from his previous hole, in his mouth, to his new hole and puts it down right in front of it

Interesting little critters! :)

More than likely, yes he would eat it. They are also very delicate and don't survive long in the aquarium. Shame, they are cute.

When you pair a goby & a pistol, The pistol should, IMO, be between 1/3 & 1/2 the size of the goby. Any bigger and the pistol will "intimidate" the goby. At least this has been my observations. My Tiger pistol was first paired with two Yashas that jumped. Then a smaller yellow watchman goby that he subsequently starved a buried because he kept sealing the burrows. My latest goby, a hefer of a YWG doesn't let the shrimp intimidate her and they are a good pair. She is over twice his size.

If you want a fancier, smaller goby, I suggest getting a smaller pistol shrimp. Don't get a tiger. They are great for the larger watchman gobies, of which, there are several varieties. The candy stripe will be ok for a Yasha.

The emerald crab is crazy. I glued 3 shrooms down with super glue. Within an hour, they were gone, and he had themin his claws.

I just got my Emerald a couple days ago. He was perched under my duncan the first night, and this morning he was perched inside the birds nest, although the coral didn't seem to mind lol. Fun little guys. He was all out in the sand against the glass in the light too.

Don't scare me Lissette. My tank is pushing 8 stable months right now since new years.

They ar crazy crabs. Very helpful though. Much better than porcelains, at cleaning at least, although porcelains are awesome. In fact, im due for a porcelain. I think ill try to pick one up today, if they have them. :good:

I got a porcelain as a misc. item with my CUC like to stay in one area normally in a small space and filter feed. From the times I got a glimse of him he is blue and black. They are very cool to add bio-diversety to a tank, not really a thing to look at all the time. :good:

New stuff! Got a rock of orange zoas, a good size rock of Acanthatrea Digitata, a pistol shrimp, and an ukown coral. Will take pics afterthe water clears up.
