i got a couple of wild crayfish for my guppy tank, 1 in each tank. i heard they were good for cleaning up uneaten food and other debris so i went to teh iver near my home and found a couple small ones. they are doing well but in a bit paranoid about them getting my guppys, will they actively hunt small fsih?

The one my friend had certainly did. No matter how quicjly his guppies reproduced, the crayfish kept the population right down, hunting for fish every nigh as soon as the light went off. He may not always have caught them, but he often managed to get a bit of fin!

Make sure the tanks are securely covered. His escaped several times and eventually was found dead behind a radiator.

Crays can and do eat fish. Whether that will happen in your case though no one can be sure. I have had crays with fish and never lost either in the process. Others will have different stories. The best advice I can give is only keep them together if you can emotionally afford to lose any gupppies. And you may well end up not losing any.
