How's the glue project going?

Waiting for the glue! was supposed to be here by today but it's not so it'll be Monday at the earliest!

Glue arrived today, from reading the side of the tube it's perfect for the job. It's only meant for building aquariums and repairing them. I got the Silirub AQ. I'd already scraped away all the old silicone and cleaned up the area where it was going, I plastered the back of the repair panel with the stuff, and covered the area where the crack was then applied the patch. I moved it about to spread out the silicone underneath, then sealed all round the edge.

It looks very well sealed, I'll give it a few days to cure before I add any water.

You put the patch on and held it with pressure to dry, correct?

Yep left a heavy battery on it to keep pressure applied, not sure it would help that much though as the silicone was fantastic stuff I used a bit of a twisting motion to bed it down, after that it was stuck fast.

Then plenty of sealant round the edge

Tank now full with 70L of water - I sure hope it works!

Just to be safe® I've put it in the utility room which is designed to be flooded up to 3 inches when the washing machine goes wrong, the floor from there then drops into the garage so to really flood it I need hundreds of gallons of water

I'll leave it like that until the weekend, if all is OK which I hope it will be - then I'll empty it out again and transfer it back to the living room. Then put the gravel in and fill with dechlorinated water ready to start the fishless cycle

Not easily now it's full of water - I just get reflections!

It's not the pretiest repair but it's holding - will go try with my dslr to see if I can get a better shot

Few.... At least you didn't all say I'd done it wrong!

Just looking forward to having some fish in there now! I'm estimating about a month before any fish can go in if I'm lucky

Not 100% sure yet, going to start with some cobra guppies, then probably add a couple of shoals of little tetras, a few small bottom feeders and then see where I'm up to
