hi there, i have a rabbit called fudge i got him in may last year, he's a male and i was wandering if i could get him a male bunny to keep him company, but im not sure if he would protect the bunny or would he just attack him, what are your thoughts or expeirences on this matter? thanks in advance

I wouldnt recamend it. They probably would fight. I have bunnies, and the only reason I can keep my males together is cause they are brothers and have grown up together since birth. I tried to introduce the father of the litter, and he was mean and tried to show who was boss.

Male rabbits have been known to rape each other  Honestly, I ahve 2 guinae pigs and a dwarf dutch all male and it always harasses one of the guinae pigs...They are now seperated.

oh right, oh dear, i think i may skip the idea of another bunny then, what about a male or female guinae pig or would that just have the same affect as a bunny? again thanks in advance :D

I really don't know.Just from personal experience my rabbit is a bit 'weird' lol.

awww bless why is he weird lol, my rabbit is a big softy thats why im wandering if i can put another small one in there with him, i dunno what to do, i feel as though he is lonely, although he probably isnt, he's a pretty chilled out rabbit and does not have a bad nature at all

It will probably be fine, but maybe someone more experienced can confirm this.My rabbit is very nippy and doesn't liked being handled. :shout:

ah right, my rabbit loves been handled and cuddled and hes used to my 14 month old little girl stroking him with the odd grab now n again and he just lies there and takes it, the only time he ever bit anyone (me) was when i stupidly stuck my finger in his cage and wiggled it, he didnt like that (me either lol)

hi,

The best option would be to get him castrated and get him a lady bunny friend, if you got her from a rescue centre you could take him and introduce him to a few until you find one he likes. Rabbits and guineas together is a bad idea.

Emma :)

ah right i thought a lot of people put rabbits and guineas together, dont they make good company for each other?

Well.... it's not recommended that rabbits and guineas are kept together, because even if they seem to get along and enjoy each other's company, rabbits are so much more boisterous than guineas that they frequently hurt them just by bouncing around. To be perfectly honest, rabbit can kill guineas by total accident, because their hind legs are so powerful. A couple of other reasons for keeping them separately are that most people give them different food (cos guineas can't make vitamin c), and that they carry different bugs, so what it harmless to one, makes another one sick.

As Emma said, your best option, if you think he wants a friend (and most rabbits would like a friend, because they are naturally sociable animals), is to have him neutered and get him a girlfriend. Un-neutered (and even neutered) he would probably fight with another buck, but neutered he could live with a doe. Girl and boy pairs definitely seem to work best with rabbits, though Mango and Chutney (in my signature) are both does (unrelated).

Hope that helps,
Wendy
