Like many of you, I love watching corys do their thing. I've got a 55 with 2 JDs, a Synodontis cat and BN Pleco, and am wondering if there are any corys suitable. The JDs are small at 2.5 or so inches right now, but I've heard they grow.

About 50-50 sand/gravel substrate for now. Anyone have some input on this one? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, JD's will grow quite large at least 12". I didn't know this when I first bought mine, but I had Emerald Corys in with mine. Granted they were not much bigger than yours are now.

I keep an Electric Blue JD he's about 5 to 6 inches and is quite peacefull, doesnt bother my plecs,my Pictus or indeed the other fish, except my 2 large Angels, he likes to show them that he's the boss but nothing serious, cant see there would be a problem with corys unless someone knows different.

Personally i wouldn't risk any cichlids with corys, some can become quite aggressive towards placid corys....

First, let me point out that "showing them that he's the boss" could stress the peaceful corys to the point where their immune systems fail and the eventually fall ill and die a premature death. Cichlids also have a tendency to pick the eyes out of corys.

Second, take a look at the pectoral fins these little corys have. They are sharp, and pointy, and the corys have the ability to suddenly open them out to the side and hold them rigid. They have been known to lodge themselves in the mouths of cichlids that tried to eat them. The result is the death of both fish.
