I have posted this in the catfish area two days ago, and it was suggested that I post here just in case anyone had any ideas....(yes I know it's wrong).

Recently added two albino cory's (two weeks) to my tank which already had two peppered cory's. Just now I've noticed that both of my albino cory's have grown a lump under their belly. Their bellies seem to have black colouration (seen through as grey) but underneath is white, with a black line running centrally down the lump for about 2/3 of the way.

Both are feeding, and playfull.

Any ideas?

;) They could be both females. I know one of my pepered cories fits that description whenever she is about to lay eggs on the glass ;) Just a long shot but hey could be right :D

Thanks for the reply. On the post in the cory's section you'll notice that Inchworm (I think) said the exact opposite!!!
It seemed the most likely explanation (pregnancy) when I saw it first.... so it looks like I have two male peppered cory's and two female albino cory's. Wonder what the kids'll look like.

Now all I need is advice on what to do with egglayers...!!!! :D :D

i don't have cories myself but it does sound like they are going to spawn. just watch out because the other fish are going to eat the eggs

I've got 2 albino corys as well. Their bellies also have a black line down the middle, but not bulging. I just presumed that this was their guts showing thru their white scales!!

It sounds to me that you have girls. If they do spawn, mine lay their eggs on the glass, alot of fun to watch, as she holds her eggs in her fins and attaches them to the glass. From my experience, after the eggs have been laid, it takes just 3 days for the to hatch, not much time to prepare LOL. I dont know who else you have in your tank, but most fish will try to eat the eggs as quickly as they are laid. If you notcie the other fish chasing your cory, she may be getting close to laying eggs. My first batch of cories, i removed the eggs from the tank, and put them in a different tank. They are very very sticky when first they first come out, so i just touch them with my finger and they come off the tank. You have to be very careful though, as they are very soft and will get smushed if you push too hard. The trick is to keep them under water, and then put the eggs in something with an airstone. They will die without air. If all goes well, you will have little cories in 3 days. Hope I have been some help in telling you about egg layer cories. Good luck and let us know if you get eggs.
