Corydoras a bad idea?

Corydoras need a dedicated long "beach". To me your tank hasn't enough floor area to be suited to Corydoras, except maybe for the smallest Corydoras (pygmaeus, habrosus, hastatus) but anyhow not with whiteskirts tetra.

Thank you for your help, so pygmys then?

Yes but you have to set them a beach of soft sand to preserve their sensitive barbels from erosion. And NO whiteskirts tetras with Corys.

Corydoras need much roots, branches and plants. So you'll have to reset your tank and remove every artificial stuff.
Sand has to be smooth/polished.

Is the picture in your first post before or after you added the new plants?
Have a look at my signature pic. This is a good environment for both cories and tetras. I don't think this tank is heavily planted, in fact it has a lot more plants now than when the pic was taken (and I still don't think its heavily planted)

Here is an almost perfect set up for Corydoras.

The substrate should be sand, not gravel. But otherwise, this is a good aquascape with the branches, it gives the cories lots of browsing surfaces.

Gravel is suitable to big Corydoras if it is smooth/polished. The video I posted is one amongst many others from well known breeder and champion of Corydoras.
