my bronze corys spawned yesterday the eggs are 20 hours old around 200-300 eggs all in all
now some are clear turning a light shade of gray id say 75% of them wich im persuming are fertile the otheres are white, iv got eggs on top of eggs so i carnt seperate them will the unfertile ones cause a problem to my fertile ones i do have loads of aireation and water flow in the tank

They could cause trouble for the eggs touching them if they fungus. If you have some meth blue or other fungacide you could add some and it might help.

Did you move the eggs or the parents?

Do you have something to feed the wigglers after they finish the egg sac?

Do you have a tank maitenence schedule figured in?

i dont have any fungacide ,up to now i carnt see any fungus on eggs

i moved the pairents from tank after they spawned and left eggs on glass

iv just started some brine shrimp and dafnia pluss iv crushed some flake and catfish pellits into a powder

tank maintenance 20% water change every day

some one told me to put some snails on the eggs and they would eat the unfertile ones is this true

I wouldn't like to chance that. When my bronzes laid eggs the cloudy white ones didn't hatch IF I remember rightly. I have pics on my home pc so I'll post them tonight so you can see what I mean :D

It's all exciting isn't it?

If they are cloudy white, then they are not fertile. If they look fuzzy, then they are fungused. They turn dark as the days go by as the cory is growing in the egg. They should hatch within 2-3 days from being layed.

Do you still have a filter in the tank? If so what kind? Do you have a substrate in the tank?

The fry will feed off the yolk sack for the first 24 hours, so no need to feed them when they hatch for the first day.

See the whiter egg in this batch?

That was not fertile. As you can see from my pic, the fertile eggs get a grey dot in them which is the growing fish :D

Eventually they'll hatch and look like these little guys

Good luck!

I've never managed to get past this stage yet....two weeks and lost them all :(

Wow, those are great pictures! Are those C. aeneus fry?

Those pictures will really help with identifing the fertile eggs.

Hi drewry, :)

Right now, the single most important thing you can do to care for the eggs, is to keep the water circulating around them. If you doubt there is enough movement, put an airstone under them.

Usually, you can expect to lose some eggs to fungus, and nothing can be done to prevent it. These are the eggs that are infertile or damaged. It happens, but the fact that you moved the parents, instead of the eggs, is in your favor, since there will be fewer damaged ones. In most cases, the healthy eggs will develop and the fry will hatch, before the fungus spreads enough to harm them.

A few drops of methylene blue might help, or it might not. It will not hurt to try a little, but remember that the important thing is water circulation.

Good luck with them. I hope to be able to follow their progress as they develop and grow! :D

i checked the eggs this morning and just adout half an hour go and withing that time theres black dots forming inside so alls going well up to now fingers crossed
iv added an internal spray bar filter wich is blasting oxygen and water movement to the eggs wich is working really well at the moment but i will be changeing it for a less powerfull sponge filter when eggs are due to hatch

i did have black graval in the tank but iv took it all out now so just useing an empty bottom

I have C Aeneus and Albinos and C Harald Schultzi in my tank so it could have been either of them as they've all been courting on and off :D It's in the comunity tank and they just get on with it unaided or prompted by me :good: I just have to get to them before the other fish eat the eggs
